     Fred B. Goodrich was born on 11 July 1848 at Dundaff, Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of Ira Goodrich and Margaret Van Valkenburg.1 He married first Ella Nelson on 25 December 1868.3 He married second Anna Belle Sage on 16 May 1877.3

     Transcribed from Case: "went with his parents to Wisconsin in 1858; at an early age entered the service of the Racine and Mississippi Telegraph Company; in 1868, was employed by the Illinois and Mississippi Telegraph Company, Chicago; was manager of the Board-of-Trade telegraph office, for the Pacific and Atlantic Telegraph Company, at the time of the great Chicago fire, in 1871; returned to Delavan and became a member of the firm of Sage & Goodrich; in 1885, was admitted to the bar of Wisconsin, to practise in the circuit courts of the State; was appointed attorney for the C., M. & St. P. Ry. Co., which position he now fills. He raised and mustered into service Company D, First Regiment Wisconsin National Guard; was elected captain, which office he held until his resignation."4
