     John Gooderich was a clothyer.¹ He was born circa 1575 at prob. Suffolk County, England.⁴ He was the son of William Gooderich and Margaret Richardson.^2,3 He married Margerie How on 7 August 1615 at St. James, Burie St. Edmund, Suffolk County, England.^5,1 He was named executor and an heir in the will of William Gooderich dated 4 April 1631 at Hegessett, Suffolk County, England.^4,6 He left a will dated 14 April 1632 at Burie St. Edmond, Suffolk County, England, and said will is transcribed below.⁷ He died between 14 April 1632 and 21 April 1632 at St. Mary's Parish, Bury St. Edmunds, County Suffolk, England.^8,1 He was buried on 21 April 1632 at St. Mary's Parish, Bury St. Edmunds, County Suffolk, England.^9,8 His will was proved on 16 May 1632 at Archdeaconary Court, Sudbury, Suffolk County, England.⁷

     Transcription of the will of John Gooderich as printed in the Case book: "ffirst and principallie I comend my sowle into the hands of the Almightie God, my Creator, and to Jesus Christ, his only sonne, my lord and only Saviour, by the merits of whose death and passion I steadfastlie beleeve to have free p'don and forgivenes of all my synnes, and to be made p'taker of the ioyes of heaven." To Margerie, my wife, my house wherein I now dwell in Bury, and my land in Horningherth, in the County of Suffolk, for her life, and on her death to descend to my four sons, William Gooderiche the elder, William Gooderiche the younger, John Gooderich, and Jeremy Gooderich. To my son John Gooderich, my house or tenement and lands in Hessett, in the said County of Suffolk, my said wife to have the profits till my son John Gooderich shall attain twenty-one. If he die without lawful issue under twenty-one, then the property to him bequeathed to descend and come to the said William Gooderich the elder, Wm. Gooderich the younger, and Jeremy Gooderich, to be equally divided amongst them. To my said three sons, William Gooderich the elder, William Gooderich the younger, and Jeremy Gooderich, one hundred pounds apiece at twenty-one. If any die under twenty-one and without issue, then the portion or legacy of him or them so dying shall come to the rest of my said sons. My wife to have the managing of the portions during minority, and the increase and benefit arising from their said several portions to be for their education and maintenance, and for binding of any of them forth apprentices, and the residue to be delivered to my sons at the time limited for payment of the portions. If any of my said children prove rebellious, stubborn, and disobedient, and refuse to be maintained, ordered, and governed according to my said wive's discretion, or the discretion of such others as during their minority shall have the managing of their said portions, in case my wife die, then the profits and increase of his or their portions that shall so misdemean shall go to the others of them that are dutiful and obedient. Provided that my wife do pay all such legacies contained in my father's will, which on my part are yet to be paid. To Margaret, daughter of my brother Henry Gooderich, five pounds at 24, and to William Gooderich, son of my said brother Henry Gooderich, five pounds at 24, with benefit of survivorship. To the two younger children of my sister Susan, by her first husband John Lark, forty shillings apiece at 24, with benefit of survivorship. To the poor of the parish of St. Mary in Bury, forty shillings to be distributed one month after my decease. To the poor spinners of Drinkstone, in the County of Suffolk, twenty shillings to be distributed within a month after my decease. All the rest of my goods, chattels, wares, stock, plate, household stuff, and moveables to Margerie, my wife, whom I make sole executrix. Thomas Chaplyne, mercer, Clement Chaplyne, brother of said Thomas, Jeremy Stafford, mercer, and my cousin, Robert Gooderich of Bury St. Edmunds, aforesaid supervisors, and for their pains I give every one forty shillings. If my wife die before the will is fully performed, and have not nominated any person or persons for the performance thereof, then my said supervisors to take upon them the performance, and shall also have the managing and employment of all such portions as shall come to any of my said children after the decease of my said wife.       Margerie's name has also been reported as Howes.¹ She married John Gooderich, son of William Gooderich and Margaret Richardson, on 7 August 1615 at St. James, Burie St. Edmund, Suffolk County, England.^3,2

     Ens. William Goodrich was born at prob. Bury St. Edmunds, County Suffolk, England.¹ He was the son of John Gooderich and Margerie How.¹ He married Sarah Marvin, daughter of Matthew Marvin and Elizabeth (?), on 4 October 1648 at Connecticut.¹ He was admitted as a freeman of Connecticut on 15 May 1656.¹ He was deputy from Wethersfield in the general court held at Hartford, Connecticut and was also one of the grand jury on 15 May 1662.¹ He was a member of the General Assembly at Hartford on 11 May 1663.¹ He died in 1676.¹

     Sarah Marvin was the daughter of Matthew Marvin and Elizabeth (?).¹ She married first Ens. William Goodrich, son of John Gooderich and Margerie How, on 4 October 1648 at Connecticut.¹ She married second Capt. Wm. Curtiss of Stratford, Connecticut.¹ She died in 1702 at Stratford, Connecticut.¹

     Matthew Marvin resided at Hartford, Connecticut.¹ He married Elizabeth (?).¹

     Elizabeth (?) married Matthew Marvin.¹

     Capt. Wm. Curtiss of Stratford, Connecticut married Sarah Marvin, daughter of Matthew Marvin and Elizabeth (?).¹

     William Goodrich was born on 8 August 1649 at prob. Wethersfield, Connecticut.¹ He died in infancy.¹ He was the son of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin.¹

     Sarah Goodrich was born on 8 August 1649 at prob. Wethersfield, Connecticut.¹ She was the daughter of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin.¹ She married John Hollister, son of Lieut. John Hollister and Joanna Treat, on 20 November 1667.^1,2 She died in 1700 at Glastonbury, Connecticut.^1,3

     John Hollister was born circa 1644 at Wethersfield, Connecticut.³ He was the son of Lieut. John Hollister and Joanna Treat.^1,2 He married Sarah Goodrich, daughter of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin, on 20 November 1667.^1,2 He died on 24 November 1711 at Glastonbury, Connecticut.⁴

     Lieut. John Hollister married Joanna Treat.³ He died in April 1665 at Wethersfield, Connecticut.³

     Joanna Treat married Lieut. John Hollister.³ She died in October 1694.³

     Mary Goodrich was born on 13 November 1651 at prob. Wethersfield, Connecticut.¹ She was the daughter of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin.¹ She married Joseph Butler, son of Dea. Richard Butler and Elizabeth (?), in 1667.¹ She died on 1 June 1735 at age 83.¹

     Joseph Butler was born in 1647.¹ He was the son of Dea. Richard Butler and Elizabeth (?).¹ He married Mary Goodrich, daughter of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin, in 1667.¹ He died on 10 December 1732.¹

     Dea. Richard Butler married Elizabeth (?).¹

     Elizabeth (?) married Dea. Richard Butler.¹

     John Goodrich was born on 20 May 1653 at prob. Wethersfield, Connecticut.¹ He was the son of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin.² He married Rebecca Allen, daughter of Capt. John Allen and Ann (?), on 28 March 1678.¹ He and Rebecca Allen resided at Wethersfield, Connecticut.¹ He died on 5 September 1730 at age 77.¹

     Rebecca Allen was born in February 1660.² She was the daughter of Capt. John Allen and Ann (?).² She married John Goodrich, son of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin, on 28 March 1678.² She and John Goodrich resided at Wethersfield, Connecticut.²

     Elizabeth Goodrich was born in 1658 at prob. Wethersfield, Connecticut.¹ She was the daughter of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin.¹ She married Capt. Robert Welles, son of John Welles and Elizabeth Curtiss, on 9 June 1675.¹ She died on 17 February 1698.¹

     Capt. Robert Welles was born circa 1648.¹ He was the son of John Welles and Elizabeth Curtiss.¹ He married Elizabeth Goodrich, daughter of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin, on 9 June 1675.¹ He died on 22 June 1714.¹
