     Transcribed from Case: "from his earliest childhood was noted for meeting with accidents, many of which were severe and came near ending his life; lived in Barre, Vt., until middle age, then went west and lived in Rochester, Minn., Dixon, Ill., Pine Creek, Ill., and Palmyra, Ill; had poor health for many years before his death, which occured at Massena, N.Y; was a member of the M.-E. church; in 1885, he published a small volume of poems, many of which have considerable merit."2
